Currency

The national currency is Emirati Dirham (AED).

In the United Arab Emirates there is a fixed Dirham conversion to the US dollar and is on average USD 1 = 3.65 AED.

In shops and bazaars, payment cards, credit cards, USD and EUR are accepted.

Safety

The United Arab Emirates are among the countries with the lowest crime rate in the world. Thefts are extremely rare.

The UAE area is free of special sanitary and epidemiological risks. No vaccinations are required.

Water from all municipal waterworks comes from desalination and treated for drinking. It is recommended to drink water after boiling or mineral water.

Public holidays for the public sector are Friday and Saturday.

All stores are open from 10.00 to 22.00, only in Old Dubai in the Deira and Bur Dubai districts stores are closed on Friday until 15.00.

The official language is Arabic, but due to the fact that in the Emirates there are representatives of over 200 nationalities, English is commonly used!

The power outlet is 220V but using the English 3-pin socket. Most hotels have multinational sockets and if not, they will borrow or rent adapters.
